Hi there! I am Tippy. It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I am a spiritual, yoga practicing individual who strives to live in the moment and have faith in the goodness of life per se. I strongly believe in the adage, “you are what you believe yourself to be.” Life is all about your convictions and perceptions. What you believe in and what you perceive yourself to be becomes true for you.
My motto is smile and laugh each day as it improves your face value and fuels your spirit.
I have an amazing family who have inspired me throughout my life to indulge in eclectic things that have added a lot of meaning to my life and made me the person I am today. First, a shout out to the kindest and most adorable person I know, my son Nav. He is the one who motivated me to write this blog and is my editor, and co-photographer for this blog. He has also been my partner in a decadent crime — baking desserts — for the last 18 years. I have immensely enjoyed every baking moment of it! My love of the outdoors, be it walking or biking, comes from my grandfather who would take my cousin and me on these long joyful strolls through the countryside when we were little, and then always treated us to something deliciously sweet on our way back home. I don’t know what inspired me — the treats or my maternal grandfather’s simplistic nature — I still love being outdoors and go walking as much as I can.
My maternal grandmother was a force to be reckoned with. She instilled in me the importance of being your own self all the time and staying strong no matter what. It’s because of her ingrained beliefs that I stay true to myself and I always see the glass half full. Thanks to my dad’s persistence in introducing me to different genres of books, I have always been an ardent reader. Reading is a beautiful outlet for me as it has helped me cultivate my creative side over the years. The best part about growing up was bonding with my dad over spy thrillers and murder mysteries on Sundays. It was like going on a gripping adventure ride with my most favorite person. I share the same bond and tradition with my son. My mom’s love of both cooking and eating food, has so fortunately passed down to me. I have spent hours and hours watching my mom dish out exotic dishes one after another as I savored them shamelessly — I was the official food taster of the family. It was my mom who introduced me to my most favorite drink, chai. We all would spend numerous hours bonding over tea. Drinking tea in my house is a way of life, an elixir to my whole being!
Now, the smell of the familial past still wafts through the house as my husband, an amazing impromptu cook, and I try to recreate the same memories in our lives while making new ones over infinite engagements of cooking, eating and drinking together!
